Getting started

What is Vminer?

Vminer is a graphical Windows mining client for PRL (Pearl), QTC (Quantus) and XTM (Tari), working on both NVIDIA and AMD GPUs. Download, paste your wallet, pick a pool and click Run — no command line needed.

How does PRL (Pearl) mining work?

PRL “mining” has your GPU run large AI matrix multiplications, proven on-chain with a zero-knowledge proof, so a card's matrix throughput decides its hashrate. NVIDIA cards are currently the most efficient.

What algorithm does QTC (Quantus) use?

QTC uses the quantus (Poseidon2) post-quantum hash. In Vminer you mine it with SRBMiner or PeakMiner on Kryptex or LuckyPool.

Do I need WSL2, Docker or Linux?

No. Vminer is a native Windows app — extract and double-click.

Do I need to download mining software myself?

No. The first time a mining kernel is needed, Vminer downloads and verifies it automatically.

What do I need?

Windows 10/11 64-bit plus one discrete GPU (NVIDIA or AMD). Stronger GPUs mine more.

How much can my GPU mine?

See the GPU hashrate table: medians from real rigs that are mining right now, with measured power, hashrate per watt and estimated PRL per day, refreshed hourly. Actual hashrate depends on power limit, clocks, driver and cooling.

Which GPU is the best deal?

Look at hashrate per watt, not just hashrate — electricity is the long-term cost. The GPU hashrate table has a per-watt column; newer generations are clearly more efficient, and laptop GPUs often do well per watt thanks to their lower power limits.

Which pool should I choose?

Pools differ in minimum payout, payout schedule and real yield. Compare them on the pool ranking & 7-day yield page, then switch pools from the dropdown in Vminer.

Which pools are supported?

PRL: LuckyPool, Kryptex, HeroMiners, PearlHash, PEARLSKI and PearlFortune. QTC: Kryptex and LuckyPool. XTM: Kryptex. More are added over time — switch from the dropdown.

Which mining kernels are supported?

SRBMiner, PeakMiner, WildRig, TW-Pearl-Miner, the PEARLSKI miner, lolMiner and more. After you pick a pool, Vminer only lists kernels that work with that pool and your GPU.

Is Vminer free?

Vminer is free to download. No extra fees — Vminer only takes the kernel's 2%.

Does it support Chinese and English?

Yes — the “中 | EN” switch in the title bar changes the whole interface.

Do I need to register an account?

Not to mine. You only need an account for Fleet Control (managing many rigs from your phone).

Do overseas users need any special setup?

No — Vminer picks a nearby route automatically.

Wallets & earnings

Where do I get a wallet address?

Generate one with the coin's official wallet. For PRL we recommend the official Pearl desktop wallet (linked under Links in the client). On Kryptex you can also use your Kryptex username.

On Kryptex, wallet or username?

Either. With a username, earnings go to your Kryptex account.

Where do the mined coins go?

The pool pays your wallet by its own rules (minimum payout, schedule). The Pool card and the Pool site link in the client both show balance and paid amount.

Whose wallet receives the earnings?

Yours — Vminer never touches your funds.

The explorer shows the payout but my wallet shows 0?

The coins are on-chain; the wallet just isn't reading them. Check that the wallet is on mainnet, update it to the latest version, confirm it's showing the same address you mine to, then restart it to refresh.

Why don't hashrate / shares match the pool website?

That's normal. The client shows live local data, while the pool uses its own window and difficulty with some delay; rejected and stale shares add to the gap. Earnings are settled by the pool.

The pool doesn't show my rig or shows 0 hashrate?

Pools take 10–30 minutes to show a new rig, and on high-difficulty pools such as PearlHash a small rig may need about an hour before the numbers settle. First confirm accepted shares are rising in the client and that the wallet and worker name are correct.

Can I mine PRL and also get NOCK (dual mining)?

Yes, but it's the pool's feature: bind your NOCK wallet at the pool once (Vminer has no such setting). On PearlHash, mine briefly with a kernel using yourPRLaddress@nock=yourNOCKaddress as the user, and while it runs bind your NOCK address on the PearlHash settings page. After that, mine PRL in Vminer as usual. Only put the PRL address in Vminer's wallet field — never the @nock= part.

Which NOCK wallet should I use?

The official wallet is a command-line tool built on Linux. For a graphical wallet, Iris Wallet (by NockBox) is a browser extension that can import the CLI wallet's seed phrase. Keep your seed phrase to yourself.

Mining

How do I start / stop mining?

The big button at the top left of Single Mode: “Tap to run” starts, “Running, tap to stop” stops.

Why can't I change settings while mining?

Settings lock while mining so a running config isn't disturbed. Stop, change, then run again.

Are some rejected shares normal?

A few rejects (network jitter, shares submitted during a job switch) are normal. If the reject rate stays high, try another kernel version or check your network.

Total hashrate is 0 or low at first?

The kernel needs to warm up and hashrate is a moving average — it settles within a few minutes.

The client shows hashrate but the GPU draws little power?

The displayed hashrate is the last reported value and may not drop to zero immediately when a pool stalls. Judge by GPU power and core clock and whether shares are increasing. If it's stuck, stop and run again, or switch pools.

How do I mine with several GPUs?

Set “GPU” to all. Each card shows its own hashrate, temperature and power on the home page.

I only want some GPUs to mine?

Enter card indices starting from 0, e.g. 0 or 0,1,2.

Can I mix different GPU models?

Yes. Set power and fan per card under Per-GPU.

Which kernel version should I pick?

Beginners should pick “Auto (latest)”. If a version is unstable on your machine, try another version or another kernel.

Why does the miner dropdown have so few options?

Vminer only lists miners that work with your chosen pool and your GPU, so you can't pick one that won't work.

What is the worker name for?

It tells rigs apart on the pool site and in Fleet Control. Empty means the PC name; you can add a prefix or random suffix.

Can laptops mine?

Yes, and they're often more efficient per watt than desktop cards. Watch cooling under sustained load; lower the power limit or enable thermal linkage.

Can AMD GPUs mine?

Yes. PRL and QTC via SRBMiner on Kryptex, HeroMiners or LuckyPool, and XTM too. AMD status is shown, but clock tuning isn't supported yet.

Can I mine two coins at once?

A machine mines one coin at a time on its GPUs; switch coins in Single Settings or Fleet Control. Merged mining (e.g. PRL plus NOCK) is a pool feature — see the dual-mining question above.

Does a network drop stop mining?

Not easily. Vminer reconnects automatically; the log shows “Auto-reconnecting” then “Reconnected”.

Mining drops off and GPU load falls, then recovers?

Usually the pool itself is having trouble (its backend is unreachable or it stops sending new jobs), which hits everyone on that pool at once. Wait a few minutes or temporarily switch to another pool.

GPU error “an illegal memory access was encountered”, crashing within a minute?

The GPU touched memory it shouldn't during computation — most often an unstable overclock, especially memory clock. Reset core and memory clocks to default first; if it still crashes, update the GPU driver; if that fails, switch to another mining kernel.

WildRig crashes with a CUDA illegal memory access on PRL — how do I lower the load?

A real case: an overclocked high-end card on WildRig 0.51.3 hit “an illegal memory access was encountered” within a minute of starting. Running WildRig yourself, adding --intensity 6 to the command line lowers the per-batch load and made it stable, at a small hashrate cost. In Vminer, switch to SRBMiner or PeakMiner, or reset the memory overclock to default.

SRBMiner hashrate updates slowly and shows “-” at first?

Normal. SRBMiner only prints its hashrate about every 90 seconds and shows “-” while warming up. Wait 1–2 minutes and judge by whether accepted shares are rising.

Shares are rising but hashrate shows “-” or is blank?

A display issue only — mining is fine. Older versions couldn't read some kernels' output formats (for example a column printed as “-”); current versions handle it. Judge by rising shares and keep Vminer up to date.

QTC hashrate is in MH/s, far below PRL — is that wrong?

No. The algorithms differ, so the scales differ: PRL is in TH/s and QTC in MH/s. They can't be compared directly.

The client shows fewer shares than the pool?

They count differently: some pools weight shares by difficulty (counting many more early on while difficulty is low), while the client counts accepted submissions. Trust the pool's earnings and hashrate rather than matching share counts.

No shares after half an hour on PearlHash?

PearlHash shares are sparse — around 100 TH/s finds roughly one every 9 minutes, and the pool's estimated hashrate reads 0 until enough arrive. Watch for at least an hour.

The PearlHash pool card says shares are “not provided”?

PearlHash doesn't publish share statistics. It's normal and doesn't affect mining or earnings.

All shares rejected on PEARLSKI with “below share target” and diff: 1?

Generic kernels can't read this pool's difficulty, so it needs the PEARLSKI miner. Choose the PEARLSKI kernel (or Auto) for this pool.

HeroMiners says “Invalid Pearl address”?

The wallet address is invalid. HeroMiners checks the format — make sure the full prl1… address is pasted with no spaces.

Mining to a Kryptex username, but balance and paid show 0?

Kryptex doesn't publish username-account balances; log in to the Kryptex website to see them. If shares and online workers show up, mining is fine.

Log: “timed out waiting for response to id 1”, hashrate shown but GPU power is low?

When a pool is slow to send jobs, the kernel reconnects and may idle for a few minutes while the screen still shows the old hashrate. Check GPU power and core clock; keep Vminer running — current versions wait longer before reconnecting.

Hashrate dropped and the GPU is still busy after stopping?

Another program is using the GPU — video playback or AI image tools such as ComfyUI. Close them while mining.

On a PC with integrated graphics, the mining GPU isn't number 0?

Integrated graphics can't mine PRL, so only the discrete card mines and it may be GPU 1. That's normal — pick the NVIDIA card or just use all.

Another site lists much higher hashrate for the same card?

Always compare at the same power. Others often test at full power; our table reports real fleet rigs at their power limits, and at equal power the numbers match.

Netbar mode

Will customers' games lag?

No. In Avoid or Smart mode the GPU is handed over the moment a game starts; with auto power on, power returns to 100% while yielding.

Which of the three modes should I pick?

Pure rigs: Full power. A fixed game list: Avoid games. Most internet cafés: Smart + Standard.

A game isn't in the list?

Launch the game → Edit avoid list → Add from running programs → select, name, add → Save.

Does mining stop when customers watch videos?

With Smart + Standard it keeps mining; only Sensitive yields for video too.

With Netbar mode on, where is the window?

It runs in the background with no window or tray icon. Press the hotkey (default Ctrl+Alt+V) to show it.

The hotkey doesn't work?

Another app probably uses it. Pick a different hotkey on the Netbar page and save.

What if a customer closes Vminer?

In Netbar mode Vminer restarts itself.

How do I deploy on a diskless system?

Set up one machine → put the whole Vminer folder into the master image → every PC is ready on boot. Keep the master image running and it updates itself, so client PCs boot the latest version.

Can I configure on a master PC without a GPU?

Yes. Configure pool, wallet and Netbar mode there, then the same folder mines on PCs with GPUs.

If the master image is signed in to Fleet Control, are clones too?

Yes. The login lives in the Vminer folder; each clone appears as its own rig in Fleet Control.

Can Netbar mode and overclocking run together?

No, pick one. Netbar mode has its own auto power limit.

Diskless PCs lose settings after reboot — how do I update them all?

Client PCs restore to the master image on every boot, so the master is the source of settings and version. Configure it there (including the overclock switch), keep Vminer running on the master so it updates itself, then clone.

Connection mode is locked to Encrypted proxy in silent or Netbar mode?

By design — unattended modes don't allow direct connections, to avoid getting stuck. Turn off silent mode to change it.

In Netbar Manual mode nothing shows and nothing mines after boot?

That's how Manual mode works: hidden and idle until you wake it from Fleet Control or locally, then it mines until shutdown or you stop it. Use another mode to mine on boot.

Power, fans & overclocking

Does lowering power cost a lot of hashrate?

Usually not. At 70–80% power, hashrate drops only slightly while temperature and power bill fall noticeably.

Why can't I change the power limit?

Changing the power limit needs Administrator rights (right-click Vminer → Run as administrator). Fans don't.

What if an overclock goes wrong?

Every clock change has a 10-minute trial; a dropped card, driver reset, zero hashrate or overheating reverts it automatically. You can also click Restore all defaults any time.

Will MSI Afterburner conflict?

Use only one. Turn off “Enable overclocking” and Vminer won't touch the GPU at all.

Do overclock settings carry over to another PC?

Core and memory clocks only apply to the card they were tuned on; another PC or card gets factory clocks. Power and fan settings do carry over.

Can AMD cards be tuned?

AMD cards show live status (temperature, power and so on), but clocks can't be changed yet.

Will mining damage my GPU?

Long full load demands good cooling and power delivery. Lower power to 70–80%, enable thermal linkage, keep the case ventilated and avoid running hot for long periods.

Fan settings and the overclock switch reset after reboot?

Power limits persist until reboot, but fans must be re-applied at every start, and older versions didn't save the master switch. Update, turn the switch on once and it's remembered.

Fan set to “don't touch”, but my Afterburner fan curve still resets?

An old-version bug — update to fix it.

Diskless café PCs crash on boot or report a failed rollback every 15 s?

The master image carries another PC's clock offsets, re-applied on every restore. Don't enable advanced clock offsets on a diskless master image, and update — offsets now only apply to the card they were set on.

Fleet Control

What can Fleet Control do?

Open app.vminers.com on a phone, tablet or PC to see every rig's status, hashrate, temperature and power, and to start / stop, restart kernels, switch pool / kernel / coin / wallet, tune power and fans, rename, reboot or shut down — one rig or many.

How do I add a machine?

Sign in to your account in Vminer on that machine and it joins your fleet.

Can I power on remotely?

No. Shutdown works remotely; power-on needs someone on site.

Are commands lost while a rig is offline?

No — they queue and run when the rig comes back.

Why did an offline rig disappear?

Rigs offline for more than 20 minutes are hidden from the list (the page shows how many); they reappear when back online.

Can I mine without Fleet Control?

Yes. It's optional; not signing in or losing the connection doesn't affect mining.

Username rules? Can I use a wallet address?

4–20 letters, digits or underscores — not a wallet address. Bind receiving wallets separately under My account → Receiving wallet.

I forgot my password?

Click Recover password and use the 6-digit code sent to your email (valid 180 s). Check spam if it doesn't arrive.

Wrong or lost registration email?

Register a new account and sign in on each machine; the rigs move to the new account.

How do I move a rig to another account?

Sign in with the new account on that machine. Just signing out leaves it on the old account.

Does changing the password stop mining?

No. Other devices and the web need to sign in again; mining continues.

Bulk wallet change across different coins?

The form splits by coin and leaves blank coins unchanged. Changing a wallet changes where earnings go — double-check before saving.

Is the Fleet Control site in English?

Yes — use the “中 / EN” switch at the top right.

Install & updates

Do I need to update manually?

No. Auto-update is on by default; with seamless updates on, a verified update restarts and applies itself.

Will updates wipe my settings?

No. Settings and login are kept.

Where are settings stored?

In the Vminer folder. Copy the folder and the settings move with it.

How do I uninstall?

Exit Vminer and delete the whole folder (turn off Start with Windows first if you enabled it).

Why is the installer so small?

It doesn't bundle mining kernels; they download the first time they're needed.

Missing system file or DLL?

Install the Microsoft Visual C++ 2015–2022 x64 runtime and check whether antivirus removed files. Stripped or “Ghost” Windows builds may lack components — use an official Windows image.

How do I increase Windows virtual memory?

This PC → Properties → Advanced system settings → Performance Settings → Advanced → Virtual memory → Change. Untick automatic management and set a custom size of at least the total VRAM of all GPUs + 4 GB, then reboot. Memory-allocation errors on multi-GPU rigs are usually a too-small page file.

Does a wrong PC clock affect mining?

Yes. If the clock is far off, verification and encrypted connections reject the PC — you'll see connection failures, verification drops and zero shares. Go to Settings → Time & language, turn on automatic time and the right time zone, click Sync now, then restart Vminer.

Do accelerators, Clash or VPNs interfere?

They can. Global proxies, virtual adapters (TUN mode) or traffic inspectors rewrite encrypted connections and break pool or verification links. Exclude Vminer from the proxy or turn it off and retry.

Security & antivirus

Antivirus flagged Vminer or deleted a kernel?

Mining software is often flagged by heuristics. In System Settings click One-click allow Vminer, confirm the Vminer folder is in Windows Security's exclusions, and add it to the trust list of third-party antivirus too. Only download from the official site.

Why do I still need a manual step after one-click allow?

Windows Tamper Protection can't be changed by any program by design. Adding the Vminer folder to exclusions is the lasting fix, and one-click allow walks you through it.

Windows Smart App Control blocked Vminer?

Open Windows Security → App & browser control, turn off Smart App Control, then reopen Vminer.

Is Vminer safe?

Only download from the official links on www.vminers.com — never third-party re-uploads.

“Mining process detected outside the Vminer folder”?

Another mining program is running. Choose Yes to end it, or close the other miner first.

A ~20-second countdown asks for admin rights before mining starts?

That's the antivirus self-repair: it found files removed by antivirus, adds Vminer to the allow-list and restores them — it doesn't turn off Windows Security. Approve it, or follow the antivirus guide in System Settings.

One-click allow succeeded but kernels still get deleted?

Third-party antivirus (360, Huorong, Kaspersky…) must allow the whole Vminer folder in its own settings. In Windows Security, adding the Vminer folder as an exclusion is the lasting fix — no protection needs to be turned off.

Troubleshooting

Title bar shows a red “API offline” dot?

The local service didn't start. Fully exit and reopen Vminer; if it persists, add the Vminer folder to your antivirus trust list.

Log: “Mining kernel was terminated N times within 5 minutes”?

Almost always antivirus. Use One-click allow Vminer in System Settings.

Log: “Mining kernel exited unexpectedly (error code …), restarting” over and over?

Usually the GPU driver, Windows or the kernel itself. Try: ① another kernel version or kernel; ② a different GPU driver version, then reboot; ③ an official Windows image if you're on a stripped build.

Can't connect to the pool?

Check your network; if an accelerator or global proxy (especially TUN mode) is on, exclude Vminer or turn it off; also make sure the PC clock is correct.

Log: “Heartbeat timeout, auto-recovering”?

A temporary server connection drop — mining continues and it recovers on its own.

The Performance page is greyed out?

“Enable overclocking” is off or Netbar mode is on. Turn on the switch or turn off Netbar mode.

Netbar mode won't turn on?

Mining settings are incomplete or overclocking is on. Finish wallet and pool, then turn off overclocking.

Pool card shows “Temporarily unavailable” / N/A?

The pool or price API is briefly down — mining isn't affected and it retries automatically.

A GPU is missing from the list?

The card wasn't detected or its driver crashed. Reboot, check the driver, risers and power cables; you can enable automatic reboot on driver crash.

Fleet Control shows “Console unreachable, retrying”?

Fleet Control is briefly unreachable — mining isn't affected and it retries.

Fleet Control says the rig belongs to another account?

Another account claimed it. Sign in with your account on that machine to take it back.

The app crashed — what now?

The crash log is at %APPDATA%\Vminer\crash.log. Report on Discord with it, plus your Vminer version, GPU model, coin / pool / kernel and a log screenshot.

Vminer closes as soon as mining starts?

An old version had a GPU-card display bug that crashed when mining started, unrelated to Windows or drivers. Update to the latest version; if it still happens, send %APPDATA%\Vminer\crash.log on Discord.

Mining keeps running after Stop, or the next start says “already running”?

Older versions didn't always end every kernel process. Update to the latest version, and for now end leftover SRBMiner-MULTI, peakminer or wildrig processes in Task Manager, or reboot.

Hashrate halved and Task Manager shows two miner processes?

Two kernels are fighting over the same GPU. End the extra process or reboot, and keep Vminer up to date — it cleans up leftovers automatically.

PEARLSKI kernel says “Cannot lock … for this GPU set” and won't start?

A previous kernel process is still holding the lock. End the leftover pearlski-miner process or reboot, then start again.

Direct mode says it can't reach the mining node and stops?

Your network can't reach the pool directly. Switch the connection mode to Encrypted proxy in settings and start again.

Mining stops after repeated reconnect failures with a checklist?

That's the start-up self-check, which deliberately doesn't retry forever. Work through it: GPU driver → antivirus allow-list → switch to Encrypted proxy.

“This pool/kernel combination is not enabled” error?

Your Vminer is too old: it can see a new pool or coin but can't mine it yet. Update to the latest version.

“The selected pool profile is no longer available”?

That pool has been retired. Pick another pool or the default.

The pool dropdown is empty after an auto-update?

Some old versions cleared the cached pool list during update. Update to the latest version; if it's still empty, download the full package from the official site again.

One GPU shows up as two cards?

With VPN or Clash virtual adapters (or some antivirus) running, older versions could re-identify the machine. Update, and try disabling VPN / TUN adapters.

“CUDA_700 … illegal address”, crashing on start in a loop with 0 shares?

In real cases switching kernel versions didn't help — the machine's GPU driver was broken or mismatched. Fully uninstall the driver (DDU helps), install the latest NVIDIA driver and reboot.

Blue screen 0x0000003B under full mining load?

Usually the GPU driver crashing in kernel mode. Lower the power limit, then update or reinstall the GPU driver.

Red log line “local service refresh failed”?

Only a UI data refresh (pool list or coin price) failed once. Mining isn't affected and it recovers; newer versions no longer show it.

Pool stats “unavailable” and price “—”, yet shares are rising?

Rising shares mean mining is fine. Older versions timed out on a slow first connection; current ones wait longer and retry quickly.

Log keeps showing “encrypted proxy connection failed: EOF”?

Two common causes: Clash / Mihomo TUN mode hijacking the connection, or a temporary home-broadband route problem. Turn off TUN or bypass Vminer; for route issues, wait or try another network.

“Mining verification connection interrupted, retrying” with 0 shares?

Almost always the PC time or time zone is wrong (often a wrong zone with the clock set by hand to look right). Fix the time zone, enable automatic time, click Sync now and restart Vminer. Switching pools or kernels won't help.

Certificate verification fails when connecting?

Usually not a version problem: the PC clock is off, or a proxy or antivirus HTTPS scanning is rewriting certificates. Fix the time, turn off proxy TUN, then disable antivirus HTTPS scanning.

Chinese text in the log is garbled?

An encoding issue in older versions. Update to the latest version.

The UI lags and dropdowns take a second or two?

With the monitor on integrated graphics while the GPU mines, older versions' transparency and animations rendered slowly. Newer versions removed them — update.

A pool vanished from the list after switching kernels?

Older versions filtered pools by kernel. Now you pick the pool first and kernels follow — update, then choose the pool before the kernel.

The floating window is stuck off-screen?

Update — the latest version brings it back on-screen automatically.

Kernel download is slow and the log says it's switching source?

When a download source drops, Vminer moves to the next one automatically. That's normal — just wait.

Files like desktop-wallet-updater in the Recycle Bin — are they Vminer's?

No, they're the Pearl desktop wallet's update files and cache. Before emptying, check your wallet and make sure your seed phrase is backed up.

Certificate not trusted, usually because a proxy or antivirus intercepts HTTPS. Close Clash/VPN and antivirus HTTPS scanning, then retry.

Error “attempted to an unreachable network” — how do I fix it?

The PC is offline or the network is unreachable. Check cable/Wi-Fi and router and confirm internet access.

Error “network name is no longer available” — how do I fix it?

The diskless/network drive disconnected. Check the cable or run Vminer from a local disk.

Error “no gpu was listed” — how do I fix it?

No compatible GPU is available. Check the graphics driver and the selected mining core.

Error “driver version is insufficient for CUDA runtime version” — how do I fix it?

The NVIDIA driver is too old. Install the latest driver from nvidia.com and reboot.

Error “no kernel image is available for execution on the device” — how do I fix it?

This mining core does not support your GPU model. Choose another core or check whether the card is too old.

Error “unsupported display driver / cuda driver combination” — how do I fix it?

The GPU driver install is broken or mismatched. Reinstall the latest NVIDIA driver (clean install).

Error “couldn't communicate with the NVIDIA driver” — how do I fix it?

The NVIDIA driver isn't working. Restart the PC; if it persists, clean-reinstall the GPU driver with DDU.

Error “all CUDA-capable devices are busy or unavailable” — how do I fix it?

The GPU is held by another program. Close other miners or games and retry; reboot if needed.

Error “Unable to determine the device handle for GPU” — how do I fix it?

A GPU cannot be reached. Check risers, PCIe cables and power, then reboot.

Error “external power cables are not properly attached” — how do I fix it?

The GPU's power cables are not properly connected: power off and check them.

Error “Reboot the system to recover this GPU” — how do I fix it?

A GPU dropped off the bus. Restart the PC; if it keeps happening, lower/clear the overclock and check power and PCIe risers.

Error “an illegal memory access was encountered” — how do I fix it?

The GPU hit a compute error, usually from too much overclock. Lower the overclock (especially memory) and retry.

Error “far more than the relaxed kernel filter can explain” — how do I fix it?

The GPU keeps producing wrong results, almost always unstable overclock: lower or remove it.

Error “Detected a defect share (potential hardware error)” — how do I fix it?

The GPU produced a wrong result, possibly overclock or hardware trouble. Reset clocks to default and watch.

Error “device requires a reset before it can be used again” — how do I fix it?

The GPU needs a reset: reboot the PC and lower the overclock.

Error “stopped responding and has successfully recovered” — how do I fix it?

The display driver crashed and recovered. Lower/clear the overclock; if it repeats, clean-reinstall the driver with DDU.

Error “the launch timed out and was terminated” — how do I fix it?

The GPU task timed out and was stopped by Windows. Lower the overclock and avoid gaming/video on this card meanwhile.

Error “uncorrectable ECC error encountered” — how do I fix it?

The GPU memory reported a hardware error. Lower memory OC; if it repeats, the card may be faulty.

Error “WattMan settings have been restored” — how do I fix it?

An AMD overclock crashed the system and was reset to default. Use a milder overclock.

Error “cudaMalloc” — how do I fix it?

The mining core could not allocate GPU memory (usually Windows virtual memory is too small). Increase the page file: System Properties → Advanced → Performance Settings → Advanced → Virtual memory → Change, uncheck automatic, set a custom size of at least the total VRAM of all GPUs + 4 GB (e.g. two 8 GB cards → 20480 MB), then restart the PC.

Error “error when allocating memory or building DAG” — how do I fix it?

This GPU failed to allocate memory and was disabled. Increase Windows virtual memory, lower memory OC, restart.

Error “Insufficient memory to continue the execution of the program” — how do I fix it?

Vminer ran out of memory and crashed. Enlarge virtual memory, close other large programs and reopen Vminer.

Error “Critical shutdown temperature reached” — how do I fix it?

GPU reached a critical temperature and mining was stopped. Check fans and cooling before restarting.

Error “temperature is above or equal limit” — how do I fix it?

GPU too hot; this card was paused/stopped. Improve cooling, clean dust, raise fan speed or lower power limit.

Error “An Application Control policy has blocked this file” — how do I fix it?

Windows Smart App Control blocked Vminer. Turn it off in Windows Security > App & browser control > Smart App Control, then reopen Vminer.

Error “Reinstalling the program may fix this problem” — how do I fix it?

A required file is missing. Install the Visual C++ 2015-2022 x64 Redistributable and check antivirus did not delete files. See System Settings → "Antivirus is deleting the miner": click "One-click allow Vminer" and follow the guide.

Error “required instruction sets are not supported by the current CPU” — how do I fix it?

This PC's CPU is too old to run this miner. Choose another miner.

Error “Unsupported Pearl certificate version” — how do I fix it?

The pool's job format is newer than this miner supports. Update the miner or change pool.
